BROTHER C. KIRKMAN-BEY
During a visit to one of the Temples when the Prophet spoke he introduced a young brother as his interpreter who
spoke many languages. This very capable young brother traveled with him to foreign lands to assist him. This
young brother rose to the occasion with a few words of acknowledgement. His name was BROTHER C.
KIRKMAN-BEY. Little did we know that Allah had chosen this brother in the name of LOVE, wisdom and
understanding and who at the proper time would step valiantly forward to answer the call in this great work of
uplifting fallen humanity.
After the Prophet passed, it was this brother who had the wisdom, understanding,
patience and courage to carry on with the Prophets work, believing in his own
heart that he could with the determination to try. It was he who had served the
test of time loyally and obediently. He proved his worth in the name of LOVE. He
was voted in office by the Moors and sanctioned by the government to be the
best man for the job. His official title was SUPREME GRAND ADVISOR and
MODERATOR (1929-1959).
He re-established and established many fractions of the movement as the
Prophet knew he would. He was a great teacher with tremendous insight and
patience. He graduated from two colleges and is said to have studied in the same
schools that the Prophet had. He was a highly skilled adept of special spiritual
qualities. Education was a major factor, and he addressed the issue by placing
teachers in the temples. He told us to search out the meanings for ourselves
because the gifts of understanding are the treasure of Allah, and everyone has
his own portion. He said if you learned one question, one verse, or one chapter
“Master It.”
He re-established the Moorish Manufacturing Co. and Moorish Guide with the
help of the grand body. He also re-established the Moorish National Sisters’
Auxiliary. He would surprise the sisters with his culinary skills. He re-established
the Young Peoples Moorish National League. He always paid special attention to
the youth with patience and praise. He established the Mufti Corp. of which he
had been previously ordained to do by Prophet Noble Drew Ali. Being among the
Moors was his special time, and he tried to prepare for us with the establishment
of Moorish Homes. His compassion for us was unmeasured, and he had a
tremendous love for mankind. He shed a many tear for “My Poor Moors” as he
called us. HE WAS A FRIEND TO ALL.

He said, “We were under the feet of all mankind until the coming of the Prophet.”
We didn’t know what WE THE PEOPLE was about. He was an avid diligent
soldier of this divine movement.
His sacrifices were many in his faith for the building on the foundation that the
Prophet laid. Bro. C. Kirkman-Bey engineered the blue print for the colony in
Virginia, and he started the work. He had to leave his family behind with a
promise to send for them in which he fulfilled. He helped build the first log cabin
on the colony.
He was a graduate of agriculture college, which enabled him to teach and direct
the farming at the national home. Vegetables were grown and distributed in an
old truck lovingly called “BIG BERTHA.” Livestock was raised and maintained.
Many sacrifices were made by the early pioneers. Food and clothing would be
sent and a One Day Work Pay was established to help defray the costs and to
help the diligent workers who tried to make it work. There were midwives who
delivered babies, a blessing to behold.
Bro. F. Nelson-Bey’s work on the colony spanned his lifetime but is still being
carried on through his son Mohammed, who was named by the Prophet.
LET PEACE BE THY MOTTO and TRUTH BE THY CHARM
He received his membership, became a sheik and ordained minister by the
Prophet. He issued a statement in 1966 to be identified with the true followers
of Prophet Noble Drew Ali -- We desire to purge ourselves, for we are at the
point of being in a confused state of mind with so many leaders and various
know alls, about six or seven different phases of Islam, each one with its
theory, each a little different from the other.
He said to try and remember some of the verbal statements of our beloved
Prophet Noble Drew Ali the try to “QUOTE” often. We should cherish his verbal
laws for they are everlasting and eternal as well as his written laws.
We still rely on many of his quotes of the Prophet. Brother J. Blakely-Bey’s
book Perfect Flame should be read by all. He said that Prophet Noble Drew Ali
was “AN ANGEL UNAWARE .”
LET US PURGE OURSELVES TO THE EXACTNESS OF PURITY IN HEART.
